What is God Doing in Mali?

Mali

Population: 12.3 million

Capital:    Bamako

People Groups:  52

Main Religion: Islam 87%

All Christians: 1.9%

A man of the Malinke people group in Mali had a dream in which someone who identified himself as Jesus told him to walk to a nearby city and find Christian missionaries so he could know who Jesus is. The man found the missionaries and received Christ, then felt compelled to move to a neighboring village to tell people there about Jesus. Since then, two of his children have died and his wife and only remaining child had to return to her home village due to lack of food. Yet the new believer is determined to be obedient and remains in the village to which God has called him. Stand in prayer against the dark forces that have oppressed this believer and his family. Ask God to make him a strong and forceful witness. Pray that God would meet his family's needs and allow them to be reunited.    Advance, May 2000

When the "Jesus" film was shown in Yemtao, a village in Mali, the chief made a decision for Christ and said, "God has given you our village. It is now up to you to take care of it or forsake it." The village's Muslim leader said, "We became Muslims because we did not know anything about Christianity. Now I will not prevent any Muslim to accept the Christian faith." Praise God for the effective ministry of the "Jesus" film. Pray that many multiplying disciples would be raised up in this village.  Advance, May 1997
